Sixx Cool Moms is a national network of social groups for moms. Jenna Levine Liu (me!) launched it in Montgomery County, Maryland, in July of 2019. As of today, we have 40 chapters in 19 states.

Our company's name is Cool Moms LLC, but to protect the intellectual property of Cool Moms LLC, we needed a trademark. "Cool" and "Moms" are generic words that you can't trademark, so my IP lawyer suggested we find a unique name that could be trademarked.

After considering several options, none of which appealed to me, I recalled that there were six of us at the first meetup. I asked my lawyer if "Six Cool Moms" would work. She said no because "six" is also a generic word. So, I inquired whether adding an extra "x" and mentioning that the additional "x" is a secret among the six of us would make it unique.

She agreed, and we applied for a standard character mark for Sixx Cool Moms. We filed on September 10, 2020, and our trademark was approved on May 11, 2021, easy peasy.

I, Jenna Levine Liu, am the founder and president, but we have 38 people on our team in various capacities. It's important to note that there aren't just six of us at the top.

Of the six moms who were at that first meetup, only one remains in Montgomery County. The others have moved, and as life gets in the way, we have unfortunately lost touch.

I will, however, be forever grateful for their inspiration, and, of course, for the little girl who made me a mom.
